LFC : Lady luck, where are thou

There's always a first time for everything. This is the first time for me experiencing the difficulty on what to write after Liverpool's lost to Fulham last night. There was the posts, again, another splendid goal keeping by Fulham's custodian Mark Schwarzer, maybe not as good as Joe Hart but he did enough to stop Liverpool from scoring and lady luck still has not bought any ticket to watch Liverpool's game, I guess.

The men in Reds totally, to my personal humble opinion dominated the entire game. The players worked their socks out. And yet we ended the game with Spearing red carded and a very unexpected error from the usually reliable Pepe Reina that resulted in Fulham scoring the goal through Dempsey.

Hendo and Downing hit the post, Suarez's goal was rulled off-side and Spearo's red card? I would have thought the most was a yellow card. That really sums up everything. Again, it was all bad luck. What if Hendo's effort went in? I believe that could have changed the course of the game.

I was very confident for the entire night, well until Pepe fumbled the shot made by ex-Red, Danny Murphy, that we could have won it. It showed from the tireless Reds that kept on pushing forward and kept on creating goal scoring chances. Even after Spearo was sent off, Fulham never really threatened. The only time they looked dangerous was towards the end of the first half when they had an amount of possession.

14 games played and Liverpool is 5 points adrift the Champions League place. I still believe that we could finish among the top 4 but winning these kind of games would definitely build up some confidence on the team.

It is like a mental block for the players. Against the likes of Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal and City, their effort was no difference but once they could not score a goal against teams like Fulham, Swansea or Norwich, their confidence seemed slacking.

They always started brightly against these teams, but the longer into the game, it's the opposition that somehow will be injected with the will power to get something out of it. This has been happening too frequent now.

King Kenny needs to do something about this. It is not a question of tactical or the skills of the players. It is more to the mental state of the players. We seriously need someone like Steven Gerrard to carry everyone when the tough gets going.

Yes, Gerrard is unavailable, but no harm done if any of the players just take that responsibility to carry everyone else like Gerrard usually does.

The players know that this have to change but they need to do it ASAP. Saturday will be a good time for the boys to bounce back and show the fans they are actually better than what they have shown so far - mentally speaking.

December will be a tough month and if they can get through this they will definitely be there by the end of this season. YNWA
