LFC: The King - Ain't he just brilliant

a double against the defending champions chelsea. liverpool won 1 - 0 with a goal coming from none other than raul meireles. 4 goals in 5 games ... that is just fantastic.

again kenny has got the tactics spot on. playing on a 3-4-2-1 formation. well, formation is just a formation. at the end of the day is how the players performed on the pitch that counts. kuyt was again working tirelessly on his own. but he gets support from meireles and gerrard that will pop-up in the box from time to time.

for this game, i would have to give credit to the defenders as they limited the chelsea's players movements. in the 2nd half we could see that most of the threat will come from shots outside the box.

chelsea is a good team with so many quality players. 1 mistake can led to a disaster. the men in reds just kept their focus and held their nerves. they maintained their shape for the whole 90 minutes.

unity ! this is what actually kenny did with the squad. besides restoring the players confidence he also brought back togetherness within the club. from the players, the staffs and the fans. everyone seems to enjoy their football more that it was before.

compared to chelsea's line-up, liverpool only had gerrard, carragher, pepe, meireles and kuyt as 'world-class' players. maybe i'm just being biased. besides gerrard , kuyt and meireles, they are regular starters for their respective national team, pepe is just number two after casillas in the spanish squad and carragher came out from retirement due to injuries suffered by other players in the england squad. the other players is just 'good' for liverpool. unlike chelsea, they had lampard, terry, ashley cole, essien, drogba, torres, ivanovic, anelka ... well that's more than the 5 'world-class' players liverpool had ... should have won easily.

liverpool just played better than chelsea. as easy as that. the players worked hard, they kept possession when they had too and the most importantly the king had belief in them. it is always a good feeling when the boss trusts you. agger is performing wonderfully. meireles just can't stop scoring. even poulsen looked much a better player that he did seven months ago.

and we have to remember kenny didn't even used luis suarez. suarez came in as a replacement for torres. the burden will be huge on the lad as he needs to fill in torres's shoes. and the king opted to start him on the bench. by doing this suarez will have time to gel with his new team-mates and will lift up some pressure from his shoulders.

things are going great at the moment ... yet the king is still being modest. his comments will always be 'good result because the players worked hard.' i'd have to say it's also much to the king himself. his presence alone changed everything. he still got the midas touch. i'm sure and i believe that liverpool fc will get stronger with king kenny at the helm. YNWA !!
