LFC: Europa hope may be shattered ... but not LFC's resurgence

as i watched how liverpool's hope for a europa success shattered against braga last thursday i knew deep down inside that the resurgence of liverpool fc is still on the rise.

the boss opted to start with andy carroll as the lone striker. supported by maxi, meireles, cole and kuyt. braga didn't play too bad at all. their players were focused and disciplined. as for the reds, they lost to a penalty from the first leg and there was not much difference between both teams in the 2nd leg.

the men in red showed 2 different character on the night when they lost on aggregate. in the 1st half there were lots of movements on the grown where else in the 2nd half showed a lot of desperate footballers trying to get the desired result.

there was nothing wrong with the tactics put out by the boss. on paper it was obvious that andy carroll was playing as a 'lone' striker. it wasn't shown in the first 45 minutes. joe cole showed some nice touch and to get the others involved especially the chief striker andy carroll. carroll even missed a header which he put it wide. it ended 0-0.

it's always difficult when you are already trailing by a goal and you didn't manage to score before the interval. the pressure is immense and it showed when the players starts to play lots of long ball towards carroll. being a target men plus the discipline showed by braga's defenders, it was easy for them to hold back and clear the ball when necessary. the longer it stayed 0-0 the more careless the players get and it'll be difficult for them to hold their nerves. also knowing at the back of their minds that the hopeful home fans are watching. it was not meant to be where in the end they lost 1-0 on aggregate.

yes, no europe success this season. it may be a blessing in disguise. liverpool football club is still able to sneak to the 4th place. no more europa games, they can now solely concentrate on gaining as much point as possible. from day 1 kenny took over as caretaker manager no one expected them to get champions league position. the best place was to finish top 6 in the league. who knows, it may be higher.

i'm hoping for a good outing on sunday and other teams above liverpool will falter. i assure you though, regardless what happens this season ... liverpool football club is on the rise. we will be back to be the champions of england !! YNWA !!
