LFC : Confidence is growing for the Reds

Liverpool tried everything but only managed to end the game with a 1-1 score against Manchester City last weekend. Undoubtedly, City is the team to beat right now.

I feel Liverpool played brilliantly last weekend only to be denied the full 3 points by an outstanding performance by City's custodian at goal, Joe Hart.

So much to be talked about Liverpool's 5th draw at Anfield, but Liverpool's performances against City just showed how things are starting to fall into place. The previous draws, except against United, I personally thought the whole team could have done better. Obviously there was also the opposition's keeper's excellence that can be debatable.

For most of the fans, hopes to see Liverpool finish the league as Champions is still there. I feel, this can only be achieved not this season. Liverpool needs more time. For this season, the realistic target is just to finished among the top 4 and qualify for the Champions League.

Should Liverpool be happy with a draw? Or should City felt lucky that they didn't lose?

The Reds can be proud of their performance. They just need to make sure to produce the same performances for the rest of the season and I can assure that we will finished among the top 4. Liverpool anyhow is unbeaten in 10 games (including their win in a Carling Cup tie). For what has happened last season, new owners, new manager and new players, I believe this is a good record. Less losses will only help the team's confidence in a long run.

Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea. These are the 3 teams that Liverpool should have beaten in the league but they didn't. If we look back at these games, I believe the players just lacked the confidence. Statistically speaking, they did okay, but we know something is not seemingly right from the player's body language.

The sense of confidence was definitely different against Man City. The players were undoubtedly better than City for the whole 90 minutes. Lucas was as always, amazing. Suarez worked hard, Reina composed as ever and we do not have Carra and Gerrard on the field.

I still feel Adam could give more. He's not my favorite as yet. I still feel he is slow at times. He does have the ability, he has the vision. He just needs to reproduce the same kind of performance while he was with Blackpool last season.

Liverpool is still 'work in progress'. Next big game will be against Chelsea in the Carling Cup tonight. The players just needs to believe that they are better than anybody and I don't see any reason why the Reds could not progress further in the competition.
