I woke up last Thursday night, or morning to be precise, turned on the TV and waited for the game. Stoke v Liverpool in a Carling Cup encounter. It was magnificent! Luis Suarez scored a brace and overall I was pleased to see how the team played. Anyways, they have not been performing that bad since the game against Man Utd and Norwich, only they didn't came out as winners that made me a bit disappointed.
Next, we will be up against West Brom and Roy Hodgson. The last time the two teams met, Hodgson denied us the three points. Thinking of it again, Roy actually managed to deny Liverpool most of the 3 points that they could have earned until Dalglish came back!
Dalglish made eight changes during the carling cup match and everyone is talking about the differences that the whole team made. It was obvious because we won and Suarez scored 2 wonderful goals. What if KD had fielded the same players he used against Norwich and we came out winners with a scoreline of 3-0? Then definitely we will be hearing a different tune.
Looking back at the line-up, I would say KD only fielded 2 new players, Henderson and Seb Coates to start. The rest, they have been with the team for at least more than half a season (this is based on how long they have been at Liverpool). It was simply the players knew each other a lot more, individually and as a team.
As I have mentioned earlier, the team have not been performing that bad, apart from the lost against Stoke (0-1) and Spurs (0-4). Also, we have to take into account the chances we created against Stoke and the players that we lost against Spurs and both were away games. Since day 1 this season, they have been performing pretty well.
This Saturday, we might be seeing the likes of Enrique, Gerrard, Adam, Downing, back into the starting line-up. Different faces but for sure we will see the same commitment from them.
Liverpool's issues right until now is finishing the chances that they have been creating. Adam, Downing, Henderson and the new players that were brought in by KD obviously needs time. Playing for a club in a stature of Liverpool does not make things easy. Some players might adapt faster some just needs more time. Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and maybe, just maybe Enrique might fall into the 'fast adapting' player category. Just look at Lucas. Even Spearing, on most games that he played he has never failed, in my eyes that is.
Back to the game against West Brom. They are just another team. 11 men against 11 men. They will be preparing for us just like we are preparing for them. The only thing that matters, the 'individuals' that will make a difference during the game. But it has to be supported by the team as well. As long as we keep on fighting, I don't see any reason why we could falter, why Roy will have the last laugh.
We should be good to get the 3 points ... keep on marching you Reds !!
